I’ve been thinking a lot about love lately. It’s amazing how love is such a universal feeling. No matter where you’re from, it’s something everyone experiences, bringing people together in ways that are hard to explain. At its core, love is an emotional bond that keeps us connected to partners, family, and friends. There are so many different forms of love, like romantic love, friendship, family love, and even self-love, each important in its own way.

1. Love is commonly referred to as a universal feeling that transcends social and cultural boundaries. 

2. Love is a combination of emotions, behaviours, and beliefs, that sustain a person’s bond and commitment to another.

3. There are various forms of love such as familial-love, platonic-love, romantic-love and self-love. 

4. There are various expressions of love such as the five love languages: physical touch, acts of service, gift giving, words of affirmation and quality time

5. Love has a dual nature. It can be the source of joy and pain. 

6. Biological factors  such as genetics, hormones, and brain chemistry.

7. Love can be both passionate and compassionate. Passionate love is characterised by intense physical and emotional feelings while compassionate love is the desire to support another with kindness and empathy.

8. Love can be influenced by biological, cultural and personal factors. How we love can be shaped by genetics and hormones, social expectations and our early childhood experiences.

9. Love can be addicting. Falling in love can mimic the same chemical reaction drugs create.

10. Love is a profound feeling that also requires ongoing effort, sacrifice and communication.
